about

Reissue of Dutch post-punk band COÏTUS INT. ’s debut 7", the DEAD EXCITEMENT EP (1980). All the original artwork is included, plus some extra photos and contributions.

"They remind at points of a less dance-oriented Gang of Four, eager to play a riff until it cries uncle and do some spiteful narration atop of it, before kicking into some more melodic, wavo-minded rock." ~ Doug Mosurock, Still Single

"Bunkerpop’s 2011 faithful reissue of Coitus Int.’s Dead Excitement EP is, in this writer’s humble oh-pinion, one of thee most crucial products of The Golden Age of The Reissue" ~ Erick Bradshaw, WFMU

"The Ubu-like "I Shouldn't Go" is rhythmic majesty that I fondly remember from the Killed By Epitaph comp and "Run to the Station" is scrappy Nederpunk which I recognized, but actually had to do research to find out where from (the 'Feel Lucky Skunk?' LP, for those who care). B-Side has three additional deep cuts, more of the slightly post-leaning style, and it's choice stuff. "Trap Questions" has a dry spoken word vocal over a building tempo, "Dry Up Soon" is dark bass-driven paranoid punk and "On the Escalator" is their angriest bit. Clever English language lyrics throughout... Well done package, an exact repro from what they tell me, with some bonus inserts/photos and liner notes. A+ shit, very very recommended." ~ Rich Kroneiss, Terminal Boredom

"I still can’t fathom how it was that so many random groups of kids got it right back then." ~ Matt Korvette, Yellow Green Red
